“IT’S never too early to teach our children table manners and including them in family meals at the dinner table is always a good start. However, after they’ve outgrown the high chair and move on to the regular dining chair, it’s often a challenge to find them a booster seat which not only gives them the height, but the comfort to stay seated.

Many families resort to a variety of homemade solutions with varying degrees of success, with cushions and even phone books proving popular solutions. However, frustrated  with the cleaning and lack of stability of homemade devices, North Manly mum-of-five and seven-year-old boys Olga Cahill came up with her own solution.

‘‘I got tired of using  my best cushions and the boys getting them dirty, and they were just so low, it was unreasonable to have them sitting at the table sensibly,’’ she said. ‘‘So I made it my  mission to do something about it and came up with the Tot Riser Foam Chair Pad, a booster seat which will not only give them the right height but is easy to clean.’’

Olga used marine-grade foam, Polyethylene (PE) to keep the booster light, portable, slip- and water-resistant. PE is also resistant to mold and bacteria, so it’s easy to keep clean by  shiping with warm, soapy water. ‘‘I added fun colours and designs to attract the interest of the children,’’ Olga said. ‘‘It’s perfect for children from the age of three and over who are able to sit unassisted and safely at the dinner table, and is also ideal for doing craft or homework at a desk. It should last a lifetime.’’
